The 20^th International Symposium on Deep Seismic Profiling of the Continents and their Margins

On behalf of the Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University we would like to cordially invite you to participate in the 20^th edition of the International Symposium on Deep Seismic Profiling of the Continents and their Margins (SEISMIX 2024). The symposium is a continuation of the series first hosted by Cornell University in 1984 and will be held in the university city of Uppsala from Monday 24 June to Friday 28 June 2024. A 7-day field trip will be arranged following the symposium that includes visits to locations where important seismic profiles have been acquired, as well as natural points of interest.

Uppsala, a city of about 250,000 inhabitants, is located about 70 km north of Stockholm and is highly influenced by the over 50,000 registered students at the university. Uppsala University was established in 1477, the first in the Nordic countries. Well known people that have been active at the university include Anders Celsius, Carl Linnaeus and Anders Ångström. The weather should be pleasant in late June (but no guarantees) and the evenings will be long. The latter should encourage discussions into the wee hours after the talks and posters. The Department of Earth Sciences will host the oral and poster presentations. Lunch will be provided at the department. Other meals and accommodation will need to be arranged by participants in order to keep costs down for those on a tight budget. Housing costs vary from about 60 Euro to 200 Euro per night depending upon location and level of service. An icebreaker and conference dinner is included in the registration fee.
